CAPTAIN T2D Study

Type 2 Diabetes (T2D)

This study is exploring whether managing cortisol levels may help improve T2D.

Cortisol is a hormone that can affect blood sugar and overall health when levels are too high. Many people with difficult-to-control T2D may not know if they have elevated cortisol.

As part of this study, participants will undergo a simple test to check cortisol levels. Those with elevated levels may be eligible to receive an investigational medication to evaluate its safety and effectiveness in improving blood sugar control.

For some individuals, T2D may be harder to control due to underlying hormonal factors such as elevated cortisol. This study is designed to identify those individuals and explore a new approach that targets this potential root cause of high blood sugar.

Who can take part?
You may be able to take part in this study if you:

  • Are at least 18 years old

  • Have been diagnosed with T2D for at least 1 year

  • Have not been able to achieve good glucose control despite diabetes medications

The overall study duration will be about 37 weeks (about 9 months). All study-related care and study medications (investigational or placebo) will be provided at no cost during participation.

There is no cost to participate and once enrolled in the study, participants will be compensated for time and travel.
